Alexandra W.D. Bremers
** Human-AI/Robot Interaction, UX/HF, Engineer, Creative Technologist. Open to work from July 2026 onwards! Looking for my next R&D role in AI and robotics with a strong human-focused component. NY/CA/MA preferred, but open to relocation. Authorized to work in the US.**
I’m a PhD Graduate in Information Science at Cornell University (thesis defended April 2026), based at Cornell Tech in New York City. My research, advised by Wendy Ju, addresses how interactive and intelligent machines can support human workflows during physical tasks, especially fabrication. My doctoral work integrated human–computer interaction, design, and systems development, and I am a Cornell PiTech AI in Arts & Culture Fellow. (You can read my thesis here!)
I am a designer at heart, with a strong research and technical training that allows me to not only envision, but also prototype, build, and test new ways for people to achieve things in the world. Aside from 6 years as a PhD researcher, I bring 3 years of full-time industry research experience. Prior to Cornell, I worked as a Human–Machine Interface Researcher at Jaguar Land Rover in the UK, where I collaborated with the University of Cambridge and was recognized through the Oxford–Cambridge RisingWISE program and JLR & Tata Innovista innovation awards. This experience was expanded with internships at Walt Disney Imagineering R&D, Accenture Labs, and Toyota Research Institute during my PhD studies.
My academic background spans Information Science (M.S., Cornell), Artificial Intelligence (M.S., Utrecht University), and Industrial Design (B.S., TU Eindhoven, see my portfolio). In 2020, I was awarded the Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851 Industrial Fellowship to pursue doctoral study at Cambridge.
